The most commonly used parameter of temperature is a temperature sensor.
The temperature sensors are used in instruments to assess the temperature. This calibration is done against some reasonable standards by temperature sensors. There is a very short term stability is checked during the process of calibration.
Temperature sensor does not fail generally, but they may fail while calibrating. It can also happen in case the sensor is working properly before sending to the process of calibration. There are many types of conventional sensors like Thermocouples, Platinum resistance, and Thermostats. All the sensors have their features and capability which are useful to assess the temperatures of any instrument. The failure of sensor takes place due to many causes like Self-heating, Transitions junctions, contamination, broken lead wires, Short term stability, not- repeatability, etc. There are many ways to save the sensor from the failure like do not drop, do not vibrate and do not bump.
